My classes and Observation

Well i had my first pre-observation. And it went well!!! hurray for me!! we were supossed to pick our worse group to be observed and i did. well i have a system and the kids know it. i great at the door, im very specific-tell them what we are going to do, bellwork first-i have one student hand out the notebooks, then i give a time frame to do so, after we reveiw it and go on with the class, We spoke about what we did in our last class and then go on to todays work, we read, andswer questions, put away our things, then go. In simple words. Well she was impressed. i just came back from my observation meeting (were they tell you what you did wrong or right) and she said: "Thats ur worse class?! I thought it went very well. the students knew what they were doing at all times, they had no time to deviate and they had a system. i don't think u will have any problems in your evaluation and im glad u picked MWMS, i believe you are an asset to the reading department." No kiding!!!!! i an so excited!!!! i was so nervous, you have no idea. and to hear this from a person who has been teaching for over 23 years and she is so smart, she knows so much its not even funny. i feel so proud!!!

On another note, i decived i am going to do vocabulary wednesadys in my classes. I think my kids need to incorporate more vocabulary into there daily routines. So (thanks to vivi) i did the vocabulary song. What i do is i give them the lyrics with missing words, the blanks are their voc. words. they hear the song 2 and try to fill it in completely. We reveiw together, spell the words and they look for them in the dictionary. we go over them during the week and then have a quiz. Well the kids were so excited about the class today that it was carried all around the school today! my 4th period came and said: "ms. rodriguez, i was told i was going to love the class today." and before they left they said "this is so much fun ms. i already know all my words, listen..." and to my delight he did! every vocabulary word was etched intohis head. it was awsome. I love middle school!!!! today is by all means better then yesteday! yesterday was a horrible day, not a work but in my personal life. I tell you individually what happened, no need to post personal things.
